The VT-X Vintage Tremolo was the first in the Flip Series of tube-powered guitar stomp boxes. Now Guyatone has the FB-X Funky Box, an all-tube envelope controlled filter. The unit is housed in a 1/16 inch thick steel chassis with a baked, purple color enamel finish and an air vent for the shock-mounted 12AX7WA tube. There are two modes: automatic and swept filter. The two-position Wah I/II range switch makes the pedal useable for guitar, bass or keyboards.
The three knob controls are: threshold, decay and level. Threshold and decay knobs adjust the actual filter sweep sound while level lets you overdrive your guitar amp for some post-processing grunge. The FB-X weighs 15.9 ounces, measures 3 1/2W by 1 1/2H by 5 1/8L inches and is powered by an included external twelve-volt DC power supply. With a three-year warranty, the unit sells for $239 MSRP.
