The new CDR80 Silver and CDRW80 are the first 80-minute professional audio CD blanks to conform fully to the Orange Book specifications agreed upon in April 1999 for extended recording time. Conformity insures performance and compatibility with all CD players. 79 minutes and 59 seconds of recording time is possible by way of slightly reducing the track pitch.
These discs are perfect for recordings where the standard 74-minute CD is not enough...like those live albums that have to be edited down or split into two CD's that run the cost up. The CD-RW discs use the advanced Silver-Indium-Antimony-Tellurium (say that fast ten times in a row) phase change recording material that delivers more than 1,000 erase/record cycles and a secure archival life of 100 years. The CD-R Silver uses a second generation phthalocyanine dye that is resistant to UV light and allows for a 200 year life.
Suffice it to say that both these discs exceed industry standards and can be used with complete confidence.
