Shure's KSM32 Studio Condenser

D Gear Lust Web Site DGo To The Music Connection "New Toys" Directory

Shure's foray into studio condenser microphones has begun with the KSM32 side address, cardioid microphone that uses Class A transformerless preamp circuitry. A 2.5 micrometer thick, gold-layered Mylar diaphragm is used to provide extended low frequency response and good high frequency transient performance. There is a -15dB attenuator pad along with a switchable low frequency rumble filter. Frequency response is rated at 20 Hz to 20kHz and self noise is specified at 13dB. Recommended uses for this mic are: vocals, acoustic and wind instruments, ensembles and overhead miking of drums and percussion...essentially everything!

The KSM32 comes in two versions: at $1,029, the KSM32/SL, a champagne-colored finish with ShureLock elastic-suspension shock mount, locking aluminum case, ShureLock swivel mount and protective velveteen pouch and then at $959 the KSM32/CG, a non-reflective charcoal gray body with the swivel lock and padded carrying bag. Shure Brothers Inc., at 222 Hartrey Avenue, Evanston, IL 60202. Call them at 847-866-2200 or WEB at: www.shure.com
