The Expedition Express weighs 10 pounds and measures about 8 3/4 wide X 8 D X 12-inches H with provision for pole mounting on a standard 1 3/8-inch speaker stand. It comes with an external power supply/battery charger with up to 8-hours of continuous operation running on its internal sealed, lead-acid gel cell battery.

You can also use it on a desktop or on its side like a floor wedge. Multiple Expedition speakers can be linked or 'daisy-chained' together for wider coverage either outdoors or for large rooms. Bluetooth enabled means you can stream audio directly to the Expedition Express from any smartphone, laptop or tablet the supports the A2DP standard. Stereo audio input is summed into mono--actually a good idea for even, wide coverage--especially for public address.

The mixer on the back panel has three inputs: a Combi XLR mic/line input, 1/4-inch line level input for instruments or a feed from another Expedition Express, and the third input is a 1/8-inch jack (3.5mm) for either your portable music player or, when you touch the Bluetooth pairing button, the third input switches over to pair and receive audio from a Bluetooth device in range. The mixer has separate level controls for each input plus master bass and treble controls to dial in the sound exactly to your preferences and application. There is plenty of gain in this system to work with--even low output devices are easily well amplified.

For a backyard party, I had the Expedition Express pole-mounted above my guests' heads a little and it immediately went into service for playing music on my patio. I also had a mic set up for impromptu sing-alongs--karaoke style. I liked the mixer feature for mixing the mic along with either a small keyboard or an acoustic guitar pickup. The Expedition Express Portable PA has a 6-inch woofer and 1-inch tweeter and its built-in handle makes it easy to transport and move around. Most of all on a fully charged battery, it cranked fat sound all evening long.
