IK Multimedia's AmpliTube Fender With so many great sounding choices of my favorite Fender amps, it's hard to decide which to use. IK, in collaboration with Fender Musical, has outdone themselves with this new AmpliTube member. You get 45 classic and modern Fender® guitar and bass amps, cabinets, stompboxes and rack effects. Classics like the '65 Twin Reverb®, '59 Bassman® LTD, '57 Deluxe™, '64 Vibroverb™ Custom, '65 Deluxe Reverb®, Vibratone and newer models such as the Super-Sonic™, Metalhead™. Stomp pedals include the Fender® Blender™, Phaser, Fuzz-Wah and many others.

Like the other AmpliTube variants, Fender runs as stand-alone and as a plug-in in any VST/AU/RTAS host DAW. It starts with twelve of the classic amps with matching cabinets and, if you know anything about AmpliTube, you know you can mix and match amps to cabinets for unlikely pairings like a Fender Champion 600 pushing a VibroVerb's enclosure.

IK Multimedia's AmpliTube Fender The signal chain is visible and editable using the onscreen schematic--you can configure mono only chains or twin channel setups. Like any real guitar rig after the built-in digital tuner, any combination of six stomp boxes come first followed by two different amps followed by two different cabinets each miked up with your choice of nine different microphones from dynamics to condensers to ribbons. Once you decide on or off axis for the mic, move on to selecting a chain of up to six studio-like rack processors. Two fully configurable rigs with up to 32 simultaneous effects are possible without your DAW's computer going on strike.

I have to wonder if I'll ever use all the capabilities of this fantastic software--but I know I'll tweak my next guitar or bass track with it for sure. AmpliTube Fender comes with SpeedTrainer™, IK's media player and riff learning module, and Riffworks™ T4 recording software and is expandable with any "Powered by AmpliTube" models using X-GEAR. The software is also controllable for live performance using the StompIO, StealthPedal™ or any other MIDI Controller. AmpliTube Fender sells for $139.99 and for more, check www.amplitube.com/fender.
