Alvarez Professional Acoustic Guitars
by Barry Rudolph

St. Louis Music has a new line of Alvarez Professional steel and nylon acoustic guitars. Whether you choose the traditional body style or the cutaway model, you'll get a solid spruce top, solid rosewood or mahogany back and scalloped bracing. The steel string models come with abalone inlay around the sound hole and ivory/herringbone body binding. The nylon string models feature a mosaic around the sound hole and multiple body binding. The rosewood PD100s presentation dreadnought costs $899 retail and has a "Tree of Life" fingerboard inlay and both abalone body and headstock inlays. Choose the PDS90S, at $799, and you'll get a rosewood dreadnought with deep bass and a clear treble sound while the $749 PF90S, a folk model, is good for fingerpicking. If you are interested in a mahogany guitar, go for the PD80S at $699 or the PD80S-12, a 12-string version. Both guitars have the mahogany guitar's tight bass and airy treble. The PC50S, at $799, is a nylon string model with a spruce top and solid rosewood back. Alvarez Guitars are from St. Louis Music at 1400 Ferguson Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63133. Web to: alvarezgtr.com
