B.C. Rich The Beast
by Barry Rudolph

The unusual shape and striking look of this guitar is the result of the imaginations of both Bernie Rico Jr. and Bryan Hoffman of Deacide. The Beast is made like all B.C. Rich electrics with a neck-through-the-body design with mahogany body wings and a maple top.

The neck is mahogany with bound ebony fingerboard and head stock. There are 24 jumbo frets on a 24 5/8 inch scaled neck with active electronics and pickups from EMG. The standard bridge is by Kahler but you can order the guitar with a Floyd Rose double locking or fixed bridge. The Beast is priced at $2,799 and you can get it in any of the many B.C. Rich translucent finishes. For about $1,000 less you can own The Beast Standard. This guitar has a maple neck and alder body wings, ebony fingerboard, three-on-a-side headstock and 24 frets on a 24 5/8 inch scale.

The Beast Standard comes with a DiMarzio Super Distortion pickup in the bridge position and a DiMarzio PAF at the neck. There is one tone and two volume controls and you'll get your choice of a Floyd Rose tremolo or fixed bridge. Colors are: black, blood red (what other kind of red is there?) and cobalt blue. For more about both of these guitars, you should contact B.C. Rich International at 17205 Eucalyptus, B-5 Hesperia, CA 92345.
