Denon DN-1800F Dual CD Player
by Barry Rudolph

The DN-1800F Dual CD Player is a lower cost version of Denon's top dual CD player, the DN-2600F. The pearl white cabinet with all-metal chassis has bright LEDs over each drive to show you when they are opening and closing. You get + or- 18% pitch control by way of a jog wheel or the dedicated buttons. The Phat function speeds playback up to 40% or slows to 50% of the correct speed...also controlled by the jog wheel. For quick starts (.01 seconds) and instant playbacks, there is Cue Stutter mode where audio plays as long as the button is held and then recues to the original point. Each drive in the 1800 has single/continuous/relay play with relay play independent for each drive so, for those long parties, music will continuously play from one drive to the other.

Besides the unbalanced analog outputs, the 1800 has digital S/PDIF outputs for direct copying to DAT or CD-R machines or connection to your digital workstation or digital mixing console. Other good features are: sleep mode where the disc drive motors shutdown after 30 minutes of inactivity; autotray close is where the disc tray closes after 30 seconds; dual shuttle jog wheels; large fluorescent display indicating countdown or current position of playback, elapsed and remaining times and other disc information; smoke and dust protection seals around drawer and shock proof memory.

The two-rack space player and two-rack space controller sell for $799 MSRP and for much more about it, contact Denon Electronics at 222 New Road, Parsippany, New Jersey 07054. Call 973-396-0810 or Web to: www.del.denon.com
