At under $200, the X-14 Multitracker is the most cost-effective way to have a good "musical scratchpad" that features a built-in mixer and condenser microphone. Easy to carry and use, the X-14 has two external microphone inputs and a line input for synthesizers or direct guitar recording. The mixer includes separate faders for each of the four tracks and an individual pan pot for placement of each track across the stereo field. Stereo mixdowns are easy by using another tape deck connected to the stereo output jacks and all monitoring is by way of the headphone jack or the stereo output. There is a combined output level and headphone level control and a large tape location counter.
Specifically aimed at the beginning recordist who is a musician/songwriter, the X-14 uses a specially designed automatic recording level controller for no-problem quick recording of your song ideas. The whole unit is "icon-based" with easy to read graphics and no-brainer operation. Record selection of any of the four tracks is done by a large push-button with LED's indicating which track(s) are in ready to record mode.
