Yamaha CDR1000 Professional CD Recorder
by Barry Rudolph

The list of features about this new generation standalone CD-R and CD-RW recorder make it the burner to own now. You can burn CD-R's as well as CD-RW's (the erasable ones) from analog sources or the built-in sample rate converter will automatically convert non-sample rate compatible digital audio sources from 29.76 to 48.8kHz rates to the 44.1kHz CD standard.

The Apogee Electronics' UV22 Super CD Encoder allows for 16-bit encoding of sources recorded at 24-bit rates. Quad-speed finalizing cuts down the wait time for the unit to finalize your CD after recording. The CDR1000 has SPDIF consumer digital ports and pro XLR analog audio connectors with a +4dB or -10dBV operating level switch. You can select copy protection modes to protect your disc from digital cloning and there is a front panel footswitch for starting recordings "hands free."

An infrared remote control also fully commands the unit from anywhere in the room. Yamaha Pro Audio Division is at P.O. Box 6600, Buena Park, CA 90622. Call them at 714-522-9011 or e-mail to info@yamaha.com or Web to: www.yamaha.com/proaudio/
