Auto-Motion is a pitch-shifting modulator for generating alternate, re-voiced melodic performances always locked to the key/scale of the song.

Auto-Tune EFX+, like all the new versions of Auto-Tune, is compatible with Antares' Auto-Key plug-in that detects and sends scale and key information to all Auto-Tune plug-ins running in your session. (Auto-Key is sold separately).

Auto-Tune EFX+ works like any new version of Auto-Tune with all the regular Auto-Tune controls available while the other modes operate. The fun starts when I engaged either the Multi-Effects Rack or the Auto-Motion modes with loads of presets to get me started in both.

The Multi-Effects rack has a container that'll hold up to four effect modules in a Patch. When you click on one of the modules, the X-Y joystick/pad offers control over that effect's two salient parameters. If I click on the Vocode module, the X-Y pad controls the Wet/Dry on the x-axis and carrier pitch shift is controlled on the y-axis.

There are six effects modules: the aforementioned Vocode, Pitch and Throat, Duet--a doubler effect, a high pass Filter, Tube Amp, and Mutate, a crazy-sounding Ring Modulator. These effects are awesome and are worth experimenting on both vocal tracks and certain musical instruments such as a bass or single note guitar parts and melodies.

I started with a patch in the Antares folder called Carlos Vox--it uses the Tube Amp, the Filter and Vocode. I slowed Auto-Tune's Retune Speed down to 400 and let Auto-Key send (from the track's piano track) the G major scale/key to Auto-Tune EFX+. I then inserted it on a bass guitar track where I automated the carrier pitch shift to generate cool-sounding pitch slides.

Auto-Motion imposes a pattern of pitches to generate new melodies on any vocal. These notes changes will sync to the song's tempo and there are note pattern presets such as trill, octaves down, ostinato, half steps, chromatic intervals, arpeggios and many more.

The note sequences are depicted in small, two measure long windows and there are many controls to more carefully program triggering and retriggering, and also for immediate or softer note transitions to occur. I spent some time developing my own presets here and I can imagine that every song that I would use an effect like this, I would remember to save a preset.

Auto-Motion begs to be used for creating the coolest and unique electronica/EDM vocal effects ever! I love it! Antares Auto-Tune EFX+ sells for $199 download. I think this is an effect that takes the 'auto-tune' effect to a much higher, musically creative level.
