I met Paul at a session (where else!) at Sunset Sound in Hollywood, CA. for the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack album "Fried Green Tomatoes." Arthur Bake produced and I was called to engineer by my soon-to-be managers The Steve Moir Company. Paul sang the lead vocal on a remake of "What Becomes of the Broken Hearted." He is a total feel singer who cannot be bogged down by the technicalities of the modern recording process. We did "punch-in" on a couple of occasions, but he would usually rather just sing the song down, top to bottom, as a complete performance. (My kind of artist!) He self-produced his vocal performance, as Arthur was busy working in another studio. Paul did great; especially considering he had just had a root canal! I was amazed he showed up at all!
